Currently, physicians use Electronic Fetal Monitoring to assess fetal well-being which tracks fetal heart rate and maternal uterine contractions using cardiotocography which is ultra-sound based.

C-section Rates in the US

Fetal heart rate tracking is an indirect method of assessing fetal well-being and the traces cause uncertainty for physicians leading to unnecessary c-sections causing higher c-section rates than WHO recommended in the US.

TFO

TFO is a novel non-invasive system that uses light to estimate Fetal Blood Oxygen Saturation through the maternal abdomen.

Safer Delivery

By measuring Fetal Blood Oxygen Saturation which is a more direct assessment of fetal well-being, physicians have more confidence in fetal assessment which will reduce unnecessary c-sections resulting in safer deliveries.
